In Kimolos, you can visit beautiful churches with special architecture and unique images that gives you a taste from the past.
The church of Virgin Mary (Greek name Panagia Odigitria) is the island’s cathedral. Inside the temple you can see the icon of Virgin Mary that was created by the Paleologoses in the 15th century. One of the oldest churches St. Ioannis Chrysostomos has significant historical and archaeological value, with hagiography from the 18th century.
The Church of Christ is still on the island since 1592 and it is one of the oldest churches.
In settlements Mesa Castro and Exo Castro, you can find samples of embattled architecture.
In the Archaeological Museum of Kimolos, you can find many valuable discoveries of the ancient city, such as vases of the Geometric and Archaic period. |
