NAXOS BEACHES
Ayios Yeoryios is the most popular beach of Chora. A splendid sandy beach with shallow waters, protected from the winds, ideal for children. In the beach you will find an organised athletic centre with modern equipment for all water sports. You will also find shops, coastal taverns and beach bars.
Ayios Prokopis is a popular beach very well organised attracting a lot of tourists. Near the beach you will find shops and taverns; a beach with fat sand and deep blue waters, with water sports facilities. You can access the beach using the transportation from Chora. During summer months there is a bus every 20 minutes starting in the morning up to late the evening.
After the beach of Ayios Prokopis you will find Ayia Anna; organized beach with water sports facilities. It’s distinguished by a cedar woods along the shore.
Plaka is a big sandy beach (4 km) that extends from Ayia Anna. A dirt road separates the beach from the plain that leads to the beach. You will find there taverns and bar.
Two beautiful sandy beaches, Mikri Vigla and Parthenos, are separated by the Mikri Vigla outcrop. The beach of Parthenos is a meeting point for windsurfers from around the world. You will find there some coastal taverns.
Kastraki is a big beach (3 km) with white sand. In the settlement you will find some taverns.
Alyko beach offers you exotic landscape, surrounded from dunes and a cedar forest. The beach is not particularly crowded; in the region you will find taverns.
If you follow the road leading south from Hora you will find Pyrgaki beach; a calm beach with dunes and cedars offering absolute relaxation. There are some taverns in the region.
Ayiassos is a sandy cove with shallow, clear waters.Your access there can become either from Pyrgaki or from Sagri. There is a small settlement with a tavern.
Apollonas is a coastal fishing village, built in a small bay on the north-eastern coast of Naxos. The village is developed for tourism and is connected with Chora by the new coastal road. It has big beach that combines sand and pebble and coastal taverns. Outside the village you can see the statue of Apollonas kouros.
The beach Lionas is reachable through a winding road from Koronos that leads past the emery mine entrances. The beach is located at the Eastern side of the island, has enormous pebbles and deep chrystal waters. Lionas is a small settlement, well organised with coastal taverns.
In one of the most graphic coastal settlements you will find the Moutsouna beach. The settlement is located on the Eastern side of Naxos and there you will find beautiful sandy beaches and graphic taverns near the sea. It is the island’s only natural harbour and is located 38 km from Chora. You can access the beach from a winding road that begins outside the village of Apeiranthos.
Psili Ammos is an idyllic beach with dunes and cedar groves reachable via coastal dirt track leading south from Moutsouna.
In the southern side of Naxos you will find the beautiful sheltered sand beach of Kalanto. You can access the beach through a rough road that begins outside the village Filoti or by boat. The beach is isolated and you will not find any shops there.
Abram is a small sandy beach with spotless, hot waters, in the north-western coasts of Naxos, exposed however in the northern winds. Near the beach there is a small settlement with tavern.
The road that begins from the village Galini leads to the Amiti beach. A big, white sand beach, isolated for absolute relaxation and calm. Bathers should be aware of strong currents and undertow, especially if swimming with children. There is a small snack bar near the beach. |
