SERIFOS LOCAL EVENTS

In the island many festivals and social events are organized each year. One of the most important religious events is «Ktitores». Tradition holds for the “sponsor” to greet and treat visitors, who enjoy the feast of local specialties boiled goat, fava, salad, fried potatoes, and wine and dancing to traditional island music.

During the summer months many festivals takes place on the island. Among the most popular is the feast of the Holy Spirit in the areas of Agia Triada, Mavra Voladia and Liomantra in Sklavogiannis. The churches Agioi Anargyroi in Kalavatsana, the church Profitis Elias in Vounia and Xero Chorio, and Agia Paraskevi in Menidi and Kountoura Galanis organize festivals each year.
 
In August you can see the festival of Sotiras at Pyrgos, the Panagia at Ramou and Skopous, Panagia in Pyrgos, Panagia Miliani and Agios Ioannis in Sklavogianni Prodromou.

It is worth to mention the feasts of Agios Mamas in Vounia, Agios Sostis at Agios Sostis beach, Panagia on the mountain at Palio Avessalo, Pano Stavros at Palia Mitata, Agia Thekla at Sklavoyianni, Agia Anastasia at Pano Dimotamata and Taxiarhon at Monastiri.
