SYROS LOCAL EVENTS

During the summer months ERMOYPOLEIA is organized in Ermoupoli. It is a program of cultural events such as concerts, theater performance, and visual arts exhibits.

VIKELEIA is a line of athletic events to the honour of the president of the first modern Olympics Dimitrios Vikelas.

The Carnival in Ano Syros is from the biggest events of the island with recreation of olds traditions, costume balls, and music.

In Galissa KOYLOYMA are celebrated, with foods and traditional music from the island’s orchestra.

In August in Ano Syros the AUGUST MOONS feast takes place in the taverns and the back streets of the island with music events from local musicians.

The custom of the FOTARIDES takes place in Kini beach with an evening of live island folk music.

On June 24 the custom of KLEIDONAS takes place Former Elementary School of Faneromeni at Chroussa.

Many catholic and orthodox festivals are organized each year in Syros.

In June the feast of Iera Kardia Christou at Galissas is organised.

In July the festivals of Ayios Benedictos at Sa Mihali in Apano Meria, Ayia Marina at Kini, Panayia Orous Karmilou at Galissas, Profitis Ilias at Piskopeio, Ayia Anna at Alithini, Ayia Paraskevi at Alithini and  Ayiou Pandeleimona at Papouri in Apano Meria are organized.

In August the festivals of  Panayia Angelon at Skordia, Panayia Hariton at Agrelas, Kini, Metamorphosis Sotira at Agros and Ayiou Kyriakou (Tsirikou) at Danakos are organized.

In September the festivals of Ayios Ioannis Fysontas at Amygdalo in Apano Meria, Genesis Theotokou (Panayia Kerion) at Parakopi, Genesis Theotokou at Chroussa, Pagos, Genesis Theotokou (Panayia Lotiani) at Liotos, Kiouras at Skali in  Ano Syros, Genesis Theotokou (Panayia Vouliani) at Voulias in Kini, Timiou Stavrou at Parakopi, Alithini, Talanta and Panayia Faneromenis at Chroussa.
